Russian business giants are leaving the Baltic economy

Against the backdrop of a declining economy, the Baltic country’s authorities are pursuing a policy against Russia. To look good in the eyes of the Western “companions” the Baltic States try to defile Russia and the former Soviet Union.

The governments of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania do not attempt to retain Russian companies. The investments and big Russian businesses leave these countries in droves and do not want to look back.

Representative offices of Gazprom, Uralkali, Uralchem, Akron and other major companies have already ceased their operations. The Russians left along with tax revenues and jobs. All port companies relocated from the Baltic States to the ports of the Russian Federation.

In 2018, Uralkali became the leader among Latvian companies in transferring insurance premiums per employee to the budget, but in 2019, transshipment from Latvian ports moved to Russian ports.

The Baltic authorities are going to be even more excited after the offshore gas pipelines are put into operation. The Baltic leaders and pro-Western elites will surely celebrate how successfully they will have “got rid” of the remnants of the Soviet Union. It is not clear why they were so unsatisfied with the USSR? In any case, the basis of the current economy of these countries was laid during the Soviet Union.

After the collapse of the Soviet Union, Russia's desire was and remains to continue to cooperate with the Baltic States. Unfortunately, the current Western “friends” use these countries only as a “defense shield”.
