State tests of the Russian T-90M “Breakthrough” tank have been completed. The contract between Uralvagonzavod and the Ministry of defense for the supply of first experimental units to the troops was signed at the Army - 2019 forum.

The commander-in-chief of the Land forces, Oleg Salyukov, said in September 2019 that the army had begun to receive the latest “Breakthroughs”. In December, Deputy Defense Minister Alexey Krivoruchko noted that the decision on the serial supply of tanks and their commissioning into service will be made upon the results of the tests. State tests of the tank were successful.

The T-90M is a modification of the T-90A tank. It was created as part of the “Breakthrough-3” project. The tank differs from its predecessors by a new tower module with multi-layer armor. In addition, the ammunition of the tank is placed outside the combat compartment. The “Breakthrough” has a 125-mm 2a82-1M gun – the same as the “Armata”.

The tank is equipped with a Kalina fire control system and an anti-aircraft machine gun with a 12.7 mm Cord MT, which is controlled remotely. The tank is equipped with a complex of dynamic protection “Relict” and anti-cumulative lattice screens. There is air conditioning inside the tank.
