The National Hockey League, it seems, will agree to stop the regular season for the players to participate in the 2022 Winter Olympics, which are to be held in the Chinese capital. The announcement was made on the official NHL portal. It says about the League's agreement with the hockey players’ Union.

The last time the NHL players as part of their national teams played at the Sochi Olympics was in 2014. Subsequent refusals to participate in Olymic Games were justified by the need to interrupt the NHL regular season in February for two and a half weeks.

Now, apparently, the Players’ Association and the Union have insisted on a separate clause of participation in the Olympic Games in a new labor agreement that was recently adopted in the League. The NHL leadership also reached an agreement with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) to send their hockey players to China in 2022.
